George W. Bush vs. Harry Reid? I don't think so. But I could see Bill Clinton vs. Newt Gingrich.

I'm pretty sure the PM's questions aren't always asked by opposition leader. Though I do think it would be healthy, to keep the executive from, I don't know, flouting the Constitution. We'll see how these Obama/McCain town halls work out.

By right and tradition, the Leader of the Loyal Opposition opens the questioning. Then members from both (or in the case of Parliament all) parties are allowed to ask questions. Sometimes the questions from the majority are softballs intended to provide opportunities for the PM to introduce new initiatives, other times they are opportunities to highlight internal disputes.

Congress would have to have invited the President to Capitol Hill, as I understand he can't just show up. Something to do with separation of powers.

I rather like the idea, myself.
