After watching this interview, it's become clear to me that television is severely lacking in "real" news anchors who ask "real" questions and actually don't let the interview give bullshit answers. I feel like Cramer was expecting to be able to get away with the "no one could have seen this" and "throw all the bums out" talking points and coming off looking ok. The video Stewart played makes clear that was not going to be the case.
Cramer goes on and on about being "lied" to and saying he trusted his "friends," but (we have CNBC on all day long) it's clear these guys never ask difficult questions....a fact Stewart has been pointing out in his recent skewering of CNBC.
I'm impressed that Stewart is able to keep his tone civil. I guess it was sort of the same with the Katie Couric/Sarah Palin interview, when follow-up questions prevented Palin from sticking only to talking points. When will more news people ask important, thoughtful questions?
As I write this, the number 1 story on CNN.com is about new charges against Anna-Nicole Smith's lawyer and boyfriend...so maybe some of this is our fault. But if we can't trust the news people (who get access) to ask difficult questions, who will?
