I love Jon Stewart. Most of the time he's smarter and better informed than his guest, leading to a take down of ridiculous right wing (or generally stupid) talking points. But I have to say I'm sorely disappointed at the first half of his interview with Newt Gingrich. He brought Gingrich on the show and led off their conversation with discussion of the current Pelosi/CIA bruhaha, teeing it up in exactly the right wing frame: Pelosi is lying about what the CIA told her, it's worse than what happened with Gingrich and she should either prove they are lying or stepdown. You could see the twinkle in Gingrich's eye, as he surely expected Stewart to come after him like he does everyone else. Instead, he started giggling the moment Stewart posed the first question to him.
Now, while Pelosi wasn't incredibly smooth in her delivery when this all broke last week, I can't believe Stewart and his team of researchers completely missed all of the follow-up details and interviews (See: Graham, Bob) them has come out since, including today's waffling from Pinetta. What gives?
