StarGyver/SkyGyver

I enjoyed this much more than SNL's MacGruber.

Obviously MacGruber's tone is a little different from this mash-up, but I think I might have actually watched this show.

Bad Week for Sportscasters

I recognize the true greatness of Harry Kalas, but he didn't arrive in Philadelphia until after I left, so he was never part of my youth or early romance with baseball. Word comes today of the death of Les Keiter, another sportscaster extraordinaire. My New York correspondents will recall Keiter from his radio recreations of Giants baseball games after they moved to the West Coast, but for me, he is and will always be the voice of Big Five basketball. Keiter arrived in Philly in 1963, during my peak high school years, enthralled with St. Joe's and Villanova (okay, and the others). Besides entertaining and riveting us (no ESPN in those days), he inspired a young play-by-play guy on WHHS, one of only 13 high school FM radio stations at the time. The scoreboard may now read 0:00 for Les, but from here, it's 50-50.

It's Called Soft

Don't get me wrong, I like Thabeet, but there's no way he is ready for the NBA:

If anything, he really needs two more years of school: one to him him put on some weight and one to develop some kind of game. Blair man-handled him during the season.

I think his work at the free-throw line is indicative that he's willing to make the effort, but right now I fear he will be more Minut Thabeet than Hasheem Olajuwon.

Best Voice Ever?

Sad to hear he's gone:
