Skylight Quasi-Blackout Curtain and Heat Mitigator.

My wife wanted me to just hang a curtain in the stairwell to block out light, but I felt like it wouldn’t have done an effective job keeping the room cool as well. This allows a little light in, but reflects most of the heat.

I bought 3 yards of raw, black-out material and sewed it to fit. Basic curtain rods from Target. Total cost under $30 (plus labor), well below the cost of just a big enough black-out curtain ($60).
