Buff’s Pub, Watertown, MA. I recommend the Honey Hot Boneless and Fried Pickles.

Four years back in Boston and hands down the best wings I’ve had.

Twitter’s Like Button

Sometimes I have good ideas. It seems that imdb is one of the 50 “launch” sites for Twitter’s follow button.

I think this is a good move to help drive higher engagement with consumers browsing to the site. I still think there is a long way to go (I was expecting an update to the iOS apps to include the same feature, but no dice), but this is a good start.

I Want More imdb

Just taking a quick break in between feedings, changings and cat naps to write about something on which I’ve been ruminating: imdb is a massively under monitized and utilized asset. As far as I can tell, they sell keyword and display ads and have imdb pro (almost like linkedin for media professionals). Considering that people are spending more time with a computer/tablet on their lap while watching TV/movies, I am astonished there isn’t a more robust offering from imdb.

Shouldn’t this app be able to know what I’m watching without a typed search query? It should serve up relevant cast and production info, give me links to more information about shooting locations, reviews, trailers, photos and more. imdb has a sign-in feature that lets consumers create a watchlist and rate content, but there needs to be more social media integration; and it should be seamless. People can tweet what they are watching, mentioning relevant actors/celebrities directly from imdb (how come verified facebook pages and twitter handles aren’t in imdb actor pages/bios?) As I’ve said before, TV Guide could be doing something similar, but I think Lionsgate values to asset solely on potential affiliate fee revenues. Why isn’t imdb my goto TV watching companion?

A Little Break

Well, I had planned to write another “thought piece” on desktop/mobile convergence (following HP’s quarter and identity crisis), but it looks like our little one is finally ready to join us. As we head to the hospital, I leave you with some brief thoughts from a former co-worker.

BHO Accepts.

Fantastic acceptance speech. Really, he hits every note. Sure he’s celebrating, but he’s challenging people to keep going. To commit themselves to work for change. This campaign is about the American people and it’s time for them to get/stay involved. He also gave a pretty nice shout out to Republicans.

Also, I really want to know what movie theme was playing post speech. Definitely John Williams. First instinct was “American President,” but now I’m thinking it’s from “The Patriot.”

McCain

I wonder if will call Obama a socialist who pals around with terrorists in his concession speech? Maybe just dangerous, dishonorable and naive.

Really wondering how he backs away from all of that.

Jim Himes

Way to make me proud of my home state (and HVL)! Chris Shays was the last Republican Congressman in New England.

No longer!

Countdown

As soon as CA, WA and OR close, they are calling this entire fucked for Obama. 11pm can’t get here soon enough.

Barack America!

I Love Science.

Thank you, Soup. Thank you.
