Skylight Quasi-Blackout Curtain and Heat Mitigator.

My wife wanted me to just hang a curtain in the stairwell to block out light, but I felt like it wouldn’t have done an effective job keeping the room cool as well. This allows a little light in, but reflects most of the heat.

It’s a work-in-progress…as are my skills in Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

I Am Not Good At Golf

Today I put a tee shot through a nice lady’s minivan window. Yes, I hit a 7 iron about 175yds, which seems crazy to me. But I also didn’t land it on the green. Or the fairway. Or the rough. Or the road. I landed it in her back seat. I don’t feel so bad, she was parked right next to the green (I missed by about 15 yards to the right if an elevated green, next to the clubhouse) and obviously I will cover whatever her insurance does not. Also, holes 12-16 and 18 were sub-100 pace. Still, a broken car window, I think, is the sign of someone who needs more practice. A lot more practice.

Rebirth of a Weekend Ritual.
I haven’t felt good on a Saturday morning while in Boston in a while. Between my recent battle with The Plague and travel, I haven’t had time to sit and read/eat at my friendly neighborhood bakery. It feels very relaxing to be back.
This despite the fact that I still have 300 pages to go in my book.

Stay Classy US Airways

When my flight was delayed 40 minutes because they couldn’t find the 1st Admiral, I thought nothing of it. When we sat on the tarmac for 30 minutes, I was annoyed but prepared. When they ran out of food for sale before the passed the last ten rows, I was a little surpised. But what really got me was when the drink cart came around.

I asked for water. They asked for $2. Really? You are charging me for water? On an airplane? Are you so on the brink of bankruptcy that you can’t do your customers the common courtesy of providing them with free water?

Don’t think I will be taking any personal travel on US Airways any time soon. Sheesh.

A Bunch of Degrees of Awesome Music Separation

I’ve recently become obsessed with my iPod (though it is a Gen3 and probably getting close to death). I’m fortunate enough to have friends who constantly keep me up to date with amazing new music. After hitting ACL in the fall, I made it my goal for the rest of 2007 and all of 2008, until I return to Austin, to see as many concerts as possible. Thanks to the use of my trusty volvo, I’ve been able to get to shows in Providence, NYC and Boston:
