Before we make the cross country move, I figured it was important to get the Peanut to at least one game at Fenway. Unfortunately, her experience was very much like my first trip to Fenway with the Sox blowing a lead late and losing a key game in the heart of the playoff race. On the bright side, we got an early start on our tour of all MLB stadiums.

Calhoun and Kemba go to the White House.

"…but Jeter has never embarrassed himself off the field either with performance-enhancers or by his numerous high-profile romances. Through 16 seasons, he has not once been involved in a controversy that distracted or cost his team. He has captained with honor."

— Howard Bryant

Ummmmm, the guy is a tax cheat! He settled with the state and city of New York…you know, the places where he became a huge star! I get that Jeter never took steroids or dated Madonna, but come on. Tax cheats are just as worthy of our scorn (millionaire tax cheats are worthy of more scorn in my opinion) as other cheats!

Wow, I just heard this now, but I’m in love. I don’t care if it’s from the ‘08 playoffs.

Scalabrine departure for Chicago was one of the saddest offseason changes in professional sports. No more gleaming white sneakers and totally inappropriately timed 3pt shot attempts. Sigh.

Nice Scot Pollard shout out to make it extra-awkard.

Wizards or Huskies?

We could really use him for the stretch run. Seriously, isn’t this the argument for some kind of idiot clause? I get that Thabeet is making gobs of money, even when he gets sent to North Dakota (how many Tanzanians are in ND?), but can’t they come up with some escape/return/ejection/undrafting clause that let’s guys, who were never ready in the first place, go back to college for the tourney? It’s like expanded rosters for the playoffs!

Maybe I’m biased because UConn has so many of these guys: Rudy Gay, Donyell Marshall, Thabeet, etc. I’m shocked Stanley Robinson stuck around after last year. Despite his terrible year, I’m sure someone was telling him he had the right “length” and “ability.”

Bocce! Not just for Latin class anymore. 0-2. Not a strong performance so far. You would think that I didn’t play once a week for four years during Latin class in high school.

Knickerbockers Warchest

I put the odds of LeBron coming to NYC this offseason at about 1%. While I think it would do amazing things for the franchise (in terms of fan interest and valuation), I don’t think LeBron is interested in going from a championship caliber team to a rebuilding Knicks franchise. Wouldn’t they be better off going after both Wade and Bosh?

Harvard Hoops

They have been flying under the radar this year, but following tough play against UConn and a second straight upset of BC, the Crimson are on the march. Stud senior Jeremy Lin is even getting props from ESPN. Big game against Georgetown on December 23rd. I think if they play it close (or maybe even squeak out another upset), they are going to have to get some national attention. They are young too! Cornell also looks like they are for real this season, so winning the Ivy isn’t a walk away. Sure would be nice to see them in the tourney.

TX-NB

After watching that heartbreaking loss for Nebraska, I can’t believe no one mentioned the out of bounds kick-off. TX gained a total of 30 yards after the kick-off and nearly ran out the clock without even attempting a fieldgoal. And yet, not a single mention from the Musberger. Low quality.
