BHO Accepts.

Fantastic acceptance speech. Really, he hits every note. Sure he’s celebrating, but he’s challenging people to keep going. To commit themselves to work for change. This campaign is about the American people and it’s time for them to get/stay involved. He also gave a pretty nice shout out to Republicans.

Also, I really want to know what movie theme was playing post speech. Definitely John Williams. First instinct was “American President,” but now I’m thinking it’s from “The Patriot.”

McCain’s Concession.

Very strange crowd reactions. I feel like he is giving a sincere concession speech, imploring supporters to get behind Obama and to work to move the country forward. Maybe the sincerest most sincere speech of his entire campaign, even tearing up some.

The crowd seems slightly disinterested in his words and out of synch with his tone. The only thing that seems to get a long and rousing cheer from the crowd is his recognition of Sarah Palin.

Maybe this is a sign of what remains of the “mainstream” Republican party. McCain says some kind words about Obama’s achievement and what it says about our country and the response is tepid. He tips his hat to the crazy lady and they go nuts.

It’s all base.

Holograms

What was up with that Hologram interview with Will.i.am on CNN just now? My friend thought it was awesome, but I found it to be kind of creepy. Why was Anderson Cooper on the Holo-deck? Live via satellite isn’t simpler (and cheaper)?

From my friend A.Bailey, “This is what Obama’s election means: black men beamed into our homes when we least expect it.”

I’m sure Bill Bennett will be thrilled.

Countdown

As soon as CA, WA and OR close, they are calling this entire fucked for Obama. 11pm can’t get here soon enough.

Barack America!

JK At it Again

Making me feel pretty awesome by running through McCain’s only path to victory. After giving him all the obvious states, they are handing him states where he is trailing in votes tonight and trails in all the pre and exit polls. Even if he is perfect (and I’m mean PERFECT), he peaks at 266 right now. Unless, of course, McCain can be perfect AND win Hawaii.

You know what, I better calm down, that totally might happen. Especially since this might be Hawaii’s only chance ever to put a native son in the White House…

OH

MSNBC and Fox call it for Barack. Getting closer. Tick-tock, tick-tock.

Kiefer’s Whisper

It’s been a while since I’ve watched “24.” It got just a little bit too crazy for me the last season (at least I think it was the last season, with the nuclear explosion, Veep staffer conspiracy to kill the President, etc.). So, I forgot how every line Jack Bauer said was either whispered loudly or screamed, with no middle ground. When we used to get together for Club 24 (about 10 of us, food, one central location and plenty of terrorists), the loud whisper might have been the number one running joke.

The reason I bring this up, is because BofA just ran a commercial, with Kiefer doing the voice over. I realized while listening to the loud whisper explain why Bank of America would keep my money safe that I really believed it. With that loud whisper, I feel like BofA will survive any further financial crises…and take down any entire Middle Eastern terrorist cell with only a handgun and a tattered messenger bag.

John King, Multi-Touch Master?

I have spent the bulk of this campaign season tracking the stats on 538.com, as Nate Silver has focused on the numbers and only on the numbers. He has always done the necessary deep dives, running scenario analysis and Monte Carlo simulations to determine potential outcomes. He has stayed focused on the key underlying trends to follow in this election (#1 being is Obama outperforming Kerry in Bush counties/states). He has, in my opinion, been supremely awesome among political blogs.

Unfortunately for me, Nate Silver is spending the bulk of this evening (and thus distributing his analysis) on HDNet; a channel I don’t receive on Comcast Boston. Unsure of what to do, I’ve been flipping around frantically. After watching John King the last 10 minutes on CNN, I might have to stay here.
